This morning Peter Navarro was on CNBC talking about how other non US countries rip the US off in regards to their Value Added Taxes. He obviously has very little idea of the actual facts.
Below is a direct quote from him that is on CHAPGPT.
-
VAT Exemption for Exports: Under EU rules, goods that are exported outside of the EU are generally exempt from VAT. This means that if the U.S. importer can prove that the goods are being exported from the EU to the U.S., they may be able to purchase the goods without VAT at the point of sale. This is usually done by showing evidence of export, such as shipping documents.
- While I did not check on CHATGPT on VAT exemptions for importers, the fact that Mr. Navarro did not realize that the EU has an exemption for the VAT tax is amazing to me. Either he is totally misinformed or just pretends he does not know, the fact that the EU exempts this tax should be told to the public.
